Since they are required, we consider them to be qualified education expenses.

Are application fees allowable charges?

Subject: bursar-l: 1098-T information

Hopefully someone knows the answer to this question, or can direct me to the answer to this question.

If a student is charged an application fee in 2007 for a Fall 2008 start;

and is not enrolled at least 1/2 time in any semester during the tax year 2007;

am I required to send them a 1098-T?

We report "Amounts Billed" .... we have sent 1098-T's in the past to this group of "potential/probable" students .... the difference this year is we are changing our ERP system, the "Student" portion will not be fully LIVE until Fall 2008 and gathering the data will be challenging.

Thanks in advance!

Deb
