Mary,
We will give students book vouchers based on a projected credit balance from
financial aid/student loans that are completed but not yet processed. We
allow those bookstore purchases to be charged to their account. Also if we
have any sponsor that is authorizing book purchases - we allow those to be
charged to the student's account. We do not let students charge if they do
not have a credit balance or projected credit balance for exactly the reason
you state below.

Geneva used to let students charge textbooks to their accounts years ago.
We have not for eight or nine years because collecting was a mess.
Does your school permit charging textbooks to student accounts? What pros
and cons have you seen?
Thanks,
