At the University of Cincinnati we send an e-mail to the student that a
bill is ready on-line. Students can set up a parent PIN so they can see
their bill. We only notify the student.

Subject: bursar-l: Question re billing statements

Good afternoon,

We have been having this same discussion each semester - to whom should
we send the bills! Our policy is to send the student account statements
to the students and not to the parents. For the main bill for fall and
spring, we do send the bills home addressed to the student. During the
semester, we send an updated bill after the add/drop period to the
student on campus. We do NOT send this bill home. Many of the parents
complain that they never see these bills and then we are applying late
fees. Our answer has always been that if the student is not a minor,
then they are responsible for their own student account. We can not be
responsible if the student neglects to show the bill to the parents.

Can anyone share their billing process with us?

Thanks!

Ruth
