In this situation, we would manually put a registration restriction on the
student's account noting what the amount is that they owe and who they owe.
We will do the same if a student does not turn in a uniform, etc. With the
restriction, they are also prevented from seeing their grades or getting
transcripts. We would require documentation from the organization involved
including what correspondence they have already done.

Dear List,
I would like to hear how other schools handle bounced checks received by
student organizations. Checks received by organizations are deposited by
the Business Office. If a student bounces a check it is generally resolved
by them with no issue. We have a student who bounced a check and refuses to
make good on it. The organization has asked the Business Office for help.
What can be done? We don't post these checks through student accounts. How
is this handled by your campus?
