At Georgia Institute of Technology we switched to
scanning for electronic ACH presentment to the
bank. This process actually eliminated various
steps and duplication than the more traditional
method. So yes, I would say it actually saved us
time and money. We can transmit several times a
day and if we at least send the last transmission
by 7:00 pm we get same day credit at our
bank. Eliminate the endorsement process and
actually serves as a very effective balancing
tool for the cashiers. The cashiers can actually
close their sessions for the day and scan their
checks which will then give them the totals for
them to verify they are in balance. Actually
eliminating the more tedious calculator totals and tapes.
Hope this helps.
