as far as I know, it's not required but we supply/generate a 1098t form upon request by the student. The only pre-requisite is that we have the student SSN on our system or a copy of the card is provided to verify the SSN being used.
the non credit 1098t forms are less detailed so can be created that much quicker. Some non credit students will use their schedule/receipt because it is printed on New School letterhead.
