Alice,

It is my understanding that it has to occur on the same date. However, I
have heard different things from different people.
Allow Swapping does not work for us. Our situation is similar to yours
in that students who drop and add but net credit hours remain constant,
are not penalized. Our drop/add period is 3 weeks: 25% penalty 1st week,
then 50% penalty 2nd week and 75% penalty 3rd week.

I'd be interested in seeing other responses to this.

Good luck with conversion!

Subject: bursar-l: Banner Allow Swapping

Our School will be converting to Banner this Fall. Currently we allow
our students to swap credit hours for a week after school starts.
However if they drop a class and do not add one back then they do not
get a refund on or after the first day of class if they are registered
in any other classes. For example if a student is registered for 12
hours and they drop to 9 hours they can add back 3 hours with no
additional charge per credit hour. They are only charged more if they
go over the original 12 credit hours they were charged for. It is my
understanding that Allow Swapping in Banner is only good for 24 hours.
I need to clarify is this 24 hours or is it one calendar day. Meaning,
if you drop at noon on Monday do you have until midnight on Monday or
noon on Tuesday to add the credit hours back? Also, if any school is
using it I would like to know how you set it up. I can not seem to get
mine to work properly. I need to make sure the tuition dollars are
added back on to the account at some point if the student does not at a
class back.

Any ideas or help would greatly be appreciated.
