Hi Sharon.
We migrated from SIS PLUS to Banner a year ago.
We converted transaction at the detail level for everything back to 21
August 2004.
Everything earlier than that was brought over as a balance forward.
You definitely want to go back at least one full tax year in order to
properly report 1098 prior year adjustments next year.
Our old system was not and is not available to students. We did however,
archive all detail from our old system to a file that is viewable and
searchable on ePrint. So, we can always recreate a billing snapshot if
needed.
There really has not been any impact on student service with doing
things this way.
Hope this is helpful.

Subject: bursar-l: student account migration
This message is for campuses that have converted or are in the progress
of converting from one integrated student software program to another.
Did you convert prior semesters student tuition accounts to the new
software? If so, how many years? If not, why not? Is your old
software system available to students if they need prior semester
information? Have you encountered any problems with converting records
or not converting records from a student service standpoint? Thank you
for your time and input.
