  At Goucher College, we have used AWG Dewar for many years and have
been very pleased with them. Claims are paid promptly and they are very
easy to work with. We included customized literature from them with our
fall billing packet.

Parents who elect this optional insurance pay Dewar's directly.
Approximately 7% our students have selected this insurance. Whatever we
don't refund for a medical withdrawal, Dewar's will pay up to 100% of
the billed charges. I would say that a good percentage of those
students selecting this insurance have small amounts of financial aid,
many are full pays.

It doesn't cost us anything to offer this insurance to our students, and
it does lift the financial concerns that many parents have if their
child should happen to get ill or injured and have to withdrawal during
the semester.

Hi!

I am interested to find out what your experience has been with a
provider of tuition insurance.

1) Does your institution offer tuition insurance for parents and
students?

2) If so, is it paid for by the institution or independently by the
parents and students?

3) If it is paid for by the parents and students, how has the insurance
affected your institution (ie: Student Accounts, Academic Advising,
Student Services)? Is it positive or negative, and why? Does it save
you money by covering refunds you might otherwise have paid yourself?
Do parents and students perceive this as a good deal? Do many purchase
the policies?

4) Any comments regarding two major vendors, A.W.G. Dewar, Inc. or
Markel Insurance Company? Are there others you would recommend?
