We offer the tuition insurance plan offered by AWG Dewar.

Parents/students pay the premium.

It does not change what the University would normally refund.

Enrollment is relatively low, but increasing every year as the Dean of
Students now publicizes it during Orientation, in addition to the letter
which Dewar mails during the Summer on our behalf.

We have only a few claims each year, but have been very happy with our
relationship with Dewar, especially since we have opened discussions
about making the coverage mandatory.

Hi!

I am interested to find out what your experience has been with a
provider of tuition insurance.

1) Does your institution offer tuition insurance for parents and
students?

2) If so, is it paid for by the institution or independently by the
parents and students?

3) If it is paid for by the parents and students, how has the insurance
affected your institution (ie: Student Accounts, Academic Advising,
Student Services)? Is it positive or negative, and why? Does it save
you money by covering refunds you might otherwise have paid yourself?
Do parents and students perceive this as a good deal? Do many purchase
the policies?

4) Any comments regarding two major vendors, A.W.G. Dewar, Inc. or
Markel Insurance Company? Are there others you would recommend?
