Cost/Benefit analysis of electronic payment processing

Has anyone done a cost/benefit analysis of electronic payment processing
versus paper checks? If so, I would be very greatful if you would share
your data with me.

If you haven't done a cost/benefit analysis, but have data on the cost
of payment processing in general, that would also be helpful.
