Essential Functions:
Provide analytical support for the Student Business Services and Cashiers
departments. Under the general direction of the Assistant Director, this
position will research and analyze workload, trends, benchmarking and
special requests for campus statistics related to Billings Receivables and
Loan Administration; perform complex analysis and reconciliation of campus
level balance sheet accounts; prepare journal entries; perform budget and
fiscal analysis; serve as Campus Bankruptcy Representative; and coordinate
the Staff Emergency Loan fund.
Minimum Requirements:
Education equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related
field, including college level coursework in accounting.
Recent, successful, progressively responsible, and related experience as a
financial analyst.
Experience in developing financial proposals and financial feasibility
analysis.
Experience developing and analyzing business performance indicators (e.g.,
benchmarks ).
Demonstrated experience with reconciling data between large systems (e.g.,
financial system and billing/AR), analyzing moderately complex account
variances, and preparing correcting journal entries.
Experience with a fund accounting financial system.
Experience with billing and automated accounts receivable processing and
the related internal controls.
Demonstrated experience with processing moderately complex financial
accounting transactions with an online financial system.
Experience preparing and monitoring small- to mid-scale operating budgets.
Experience with applying budgeting and financial policies, and developing
related internal controls.
Successful experience providing exemplary customer sevice to both external
customers and team mates.
Experience with Internet search engines for data gathering purposes.
Experience with maintaining simple or moderately complex databases through
data entry, data queries, and database design modifications.
Experience using e-mail messaging and automated calendaring systems.
Skill in communicating effectively and professionally using tact and
diplomacy, orally and in writing (in the English language).
Demonstrated skill in expressing ideas clearly and convincingly.
Demonstrated skill in identifying the correct issues to be communicated,
the appropriate audience, the method of communication, and the timing of
the communication.
Skills in writing concise, logical, grammatically correct analytical or
narrative reports.
Skill in performing routine statistical computations such as variance
analyses, simple and weighted average computations, correlation
coefficients, and other statistical analyses.
Skill in accurate record keeping with strict attention to detail.
Skill in organizing tasks, documents and materials with efficiency and
accuracy.
Skill in creating and editing documents in word processing applications
using moderately advanced features.
Skill in creating spreadsheets and reports using Word, Access, Excel,
FileMaker Pro, or other software application.
Skill in query data and exporting/importing to/from various software
applications.
Skill in independently researching questions and making appropriate
contacts for problem solving.
Skill in analyzing information, problems, situations, practices, or
procedures to identify relevant concerns, identify patterns or tendencies,
formulate logical and objective conclusions.
Skill in making appropriate job decisions following established policies
and past practices.
Knowledge of the applicable federal and state regulations governing areas
related to the responsibilities of the job (e.g., bankruptcy laws).
Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
Hired applicant must successfully pass a background check through the
Department of Justice.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience with UC Payroll/Personnel System (PPS).
Demonstrated experience with Peoplesoft or UCR Financial Systems (UCRFS).
Demonstrated experience with UCR query tools (UCRFS Totals and SuperDOPE).
Demonstrated experience with UCR Student Information System (SIS+).
Experience preparing proposals.
Knowledge of the applicable UC policies and procedures governing areas
related to the responsibilities of the job.
