    Gerard:

We have been using the "PhoneCharge" service for the past 2 years. They set up an 800 number for the school. The student/family calls the number, enters the student ID number and the amount to charge. They are then told there is a convenience fee associated with the transaction of ..., it can be up to 2.5% of the transaction. They are given the option to continue or to disconnect. Once the transaction goes through, you can see it instantly on the PhoneCharge web site. This works great if the student needs payment for a transcript or registration, etc. PhoneCharge sends a downloadable spreadsheet the next morning with all of the information for that day for your students.

Payment can also be made through PhoneCharge on the web, but we have very few people who use this option.

This cut our credit card payments for Tuition and fees drastically. We took a lot of grief from parents the first 3 months, but most of them are now use to it and we hear few complaints.

Here is the information to get in touch with PhoneCharge

    Subject: CREDIT CARD CHARGES

We are a mid-size University permitting term bill payment by credit card.
Usage has reached a point where the credit card charges have become a drain
on our resources. Anyone out there have a solution on reducing these
charges? Maybe you utilize an outside company to process these charges, or,
have found other means of reducing the expense.

Also, does anyone use the services of "TOUCHNET" for credit card, ACH and
web payments? If so, we'd appreciate your comments on their service.
    Thanks.
