Pat,
We (K-State) have been using AES software for about 2 years.
We use it only for students who have left school owing us money
(you may not have any of those...: - ). Before we send them to a
collection agency we send them a plain and simple letter along
with AES payment coupons and tell them that one of three things
WILL happen:
1. They will pay their account in full within 30 days.
2. They will enroll in the AES payment plan (we have varying
length payment plans depending on the amount owed and the
enrollment fee is staggered based on the length of the plan).
3. Account will be sent to a professional collection agency.
We have had success in getting a lot of former students to respond.
Jim Henderson at AES is good to work with and was able to
provide us with the ability to put students in a payment plan
systematically (12 month, 18 month, 24 month, etc.) based on
total owed.
We do not use AES for currently enrolled students because of
several reasons, one of which includes politics and another
includes installment payment plan enhancements our student
accounts receivable software vendor has promised to provide us.
I think AES has a good product and their service to us has been
very responsive.......good luck.
