Hello Mary Ann! Long time, no see!!.................

At the University of Rochester Medical School we disburse all aid through a
financial aid system. So if we receive an outside check that is not already
reflected on the student's FA screens, we take it directly (without
depositing it!) to the FA Office. Many times, if the outside award wasn't
already indicated, it will generate a new FA package, many times reducing
their unsub loan. IF the award did show up in their FA record, we just
disburse the funds and make a copy of the check for the FA folder.

I was wondering if you could tell me how your college handles
    Scholarship Awards
from outside sources. Does the Bursar's Office do the input and inform
    Financial
Aid -- or visa versa --

Here, at Nazareth, the Bursar's Office receives (although sometimes FA
receives and forwards to us) the checks and deposits the money -- we
then inform FA of scholarship money received. It can become confusing
    when changes occur.

    Thanks for your help.
