At Linfield College in Oregon, all the Financial Aid goes through the
Financial Aid Office first. This is to insure that the aid is recorded and
split properly in cases of outside scholarships that are sent 100% in the
first semester. As you know, some donors send scholarships without any
indication of who it belongs to. Financial aid determines how it is to be
split and who it belongs to. They also write on each check this
information and the student ID #. It is a very good system, and I have to
say our Financial Aid Office does a very good job.
