At Winthrop University, the Financial Aid Office is responsible for
noting on the student's account all anticipated aid. For outside
scholarships, The Financial Aid Office notes the amount of the
scholarship and the name of the third party. The checks typically come
to the Bursar's Office. If the cashier cannot match the payee, payor
and amount with the Financial Aid information, the Financial Aid Office
is notified and asked to investigate. On rare occasions, additional
outside aid may result in a change in other federal/state awards.

Subject: Scholarship Awards from Outside Sources

I was wondering if you could tell me how your college handles
    Scholarship Awards
from outside sources. Does the Bursar's Office do the input and inform
    Financial
Aid -- or visa versa --

Here, at Nazareth, the Bursar's Office receives (although sometimes FA
receives and forwards to us) the checks and deposits the money -- we
then inform FA of scholarship money received. It can become confusing
    when changes occur.

    Thanks for your help.
