Marquette University is considering electronic payments as an option for
our students and/or parents. We are a private university in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin with an enrollment of 10,800 students (69% undergraduate, 21%
graduate and 10% professional). We currently accept payments via check
through our lockbox, or via cash or check in our office. Also, we are
using PhoneCharge, Inc. for those individuals who elect to pay their bills
with a credit card (Master Card, Visa or Discover).
Dennis Johnson of Southeast Missouri State University polled the Bursar
List back in September regarding recommendations on several companies
offering e-payments. My inquiry is slightly different. For those schools
currently offering an e-payment option, please consider responding to the
following questions:
1. When did you implement the e-payment option?
2. How did you promote it to your students and parents?
3. What was your initial volume? And, what is your current volume?
4. What were your prior payment options?
5. What has been the impact on your operation?
6. Are you charging a convenience fee? Or do you consider the service
charges a cost of doing business?
Any additional comments you may care to share with me would be greatly
appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your consideration of my request.
Sincerely,
Sandy Ryba
