Hi All;

We are in the process of revising our cancellation policy for non-payment.
Any responses to the following questions would be greatly appreciated.

Do you cancel for non-payment?
If you do, when do you cancel?
We have pre-cancellation 10 days before the first day of class and
coincides with the payment due date (minimum payment due is 25% of current
term charges and all prior term debt). We also have cancellation
two weeks after first day of class. Purpose of pre-cancellation is
to free up the space in classes from those students who registered in advance
but won't be attending. Students who haven't made minimum payment,
but want to attend are not dropped (they call and request us to hold their
classes until cancellation). Cancellation then becomes the final
drop, no recourse after that date.
Approximately how many students
do you cancel per semester?
Precancellation drop 500 students. Cancellation about 150
students.
What type of notification
do you provide students to let them know about
the cancellation date?
Precancellation date is published in academic calendar, but not
cancellation date.
How do you notify them that
they have been cancelled?
Letters are sent after pre-cancellation and cancellation.
Phone calls are made just before cancellation. Many times financial
aid eligibilty has changed, aid gets reversed and student needs to make
the minimum payment or otherwise resolve financial aid issue.
Thank you for any assistance you can provide.
