At our institution we automatically process aid against institutional costs
before releasing funds to students. This includes tuition and housing costs
for the semester which meet the disbursement rules for federal funds. We
now have a request to post yearbook fees (optional), parking permit charges
(optional), and other miscellaneous charges by various departments. If we
do so, the financial aid would automatically apply to these optional
charges.
If you include miscellaneous optional fees on your student account, do you
post financial aid automatically to the charges?
Is the student required to sign a separate statement authorizing the
institution to apply financial aid funds? (If yes, I would appreciate a
faxed copy of your statement).
Your thoughts and comments on these issues will be appreciated.
