                                    Assistant Controller

The Finance and Accounting department is seeking candidates for a
full-time position responsible for the accounting for the
University's endowments, life income funds, gifts, and student loans and
to supervise the Student Loans Billing and Student
Accounts Receivable offices. Please see the detailed position

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not
limited to, the following functions, which are not listed in any
particular order of significance:

    1.Prepares general ledger entries for all transactions affecting the
Endowment, Life Income, Collins, Atkinson, and
      Perkins/NDSL funds. Prepares detail schedule on unit system for
General Endowment Fund. Completes all Endowment
      Fund work papers for annual audit.
    2.Coordinates and facilitates relationship with U.S. Bank Trust
Department and are responsible for Life Income agreement
      payments and investments.
    3.Supervises and backs-up Student Accounts Office personnel in the
billing and collecting of tuition, phone bills, and
      student deposits. Processes withdrawals.
    4.Supervises and backs-up Student Loan Office in distribution of
outside lender checks including the distribution, billing,
      and collection of NDSL (Perkins) loans; preparation of FISAP; and
administration of University emergency loans and
      reconciliations of electronically transferred loan funds.
    5.Requests funds for U.S. Department of Education Financial Aid
grants. Prepares cash transaction reports and transmits
      expenditures report monthly.
    6.Performs several reconciliations including student loan EFT
reconciliation, University gift reconciliation, and Perkins Loan
      fund reconciliation.
    7.Reconciles all general ledger donations with University Relations
donation records.
    8.Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

    1.Any combination of education, training or experience that provides
the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform
      the essential functions of the position. High school graduate with
two years post-high school education in an accounting or
      finance related field of study or equivalent required, with a
bachelor's degree preferred.
    2.Two years experience in a position dealing with financial,
budgetary, and accounting procedures.
    3.Proven experience in supervising and managing employees.
    4.Knowledge of a wide variety of processes and procedures as used in
the financial management activities of a college or
      university preferred.
    5.Knowledge of and ability to use a variety of software applications.
    6.Ability to effectively supervise multiple projects and multiple
personnel involved in these projects in accordance with
      finance and accounting department objectives as well as University
policy and procedures.
    7.Ability to plan, organize, and implement special programs related
to the programs and operations of the accounting and
      financial functions of the University.
    8.Ability to perform an organizational audit for adherence to
acceptable accounting and financial standards.
    9.Ability to maintain departmental records and prepare necessary
reports.
   10.Ability to effectively interact with a wide variety of people in a
manner that positively portrays the University and its
      programs, personnel, and philosophies.
   11.Ability to effectively communicate in English, both orally and in
writing.
   12.Ability to execute those physical activities required to perform
the essential functions including, but not limited to, regular
      standing, sitting, and being mobile; continual talking and hearing
both in person and on the telephone; frequent
      keyboarding; regular seeing; and all other activities required to
perform essential functions.
   13.Successful clearance of criminal conviction record check.
   14.Ability to work independently as well as establish and maintain
harmonious relations with other staff, faculty and students.
