Karen,

We cash checks for students up to $100/day and staff/faculty up to
$200/day. We charge $15 for a returned check. If a student bounces 2
checks during a semester, she would lose her check cashing abilities. We
do not charge a fee to either students or staff for this service.

We are a public university with approximately 17,000 students. We are
currently evaluating our policy on check cashing and returned checks. Does
your institution cash checks for students, faculty, and staff? Is there a
fee associated with this service? Do you charge a returned check fee. If
so, how much?
