Wright State University is seeking an energetic and service
oriented professional to provide leadership for the Student
Loan Collections Department. Primary responsibilities
include collecting Federal and institutional loan
obligations, delinquent tuition accounts, returned checks
and other university receivables. Oversees daily activity
of SLC staff, recommends changes in policy and procedures.
Supervises pre-loan counseling and exit interview process
and provides debt management counseling to students.
Recommends and refers accounts to collection agencies or
State of Ohio Attorney General's Office. Reviews activity
on accounts placed with outside agencies to ensure
compliance with regulations and contracts. Acts as a
liaison with legal counsel and outside agencies. Maintains
up-to-date reference information on federal loan program
regulations and federal and state collection laws. Develops,
implements and maintains computer systems and worksheets to
analyze and report on collection activity and enhance office
productivity.
We require a BA/BS degree in Management, Accounting/related
field and 3-5 years related work experience plus 2-3 years
previous supervisory experience or 10 years directly related
work experience with 2-3 years previous supervisory
experience; skills and experience in financial
aid/collection management; skills and experience in
collection of education loans and receivables; strong
verbal/written communication, analytical and PC skills; and
demonstrated customer service orientation with the ability
to maintain composure in difficult situations. Preference
will be given to applicants with previous experience with
electronic spreadsheet and mainframe application software;
experience with bankruptcy, small claims court and
educational loan/receivables litigation; demonstrated
experience in team building and organizational development;
specific experience with federal loan reporting and
assignment processing; experience in reducing loan program
default rates based on federal regulations and industry
standards; and strong attention to detail with proven
ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Salary
minimum $36,076/yr. plus excellent benefits. For first
