New Credit Card Requirements

It seems we have all encountered the same problems with our new credit card
hardware. After speaking at length, with our NDC representative, I have
learned several things.

First and most importantly, the new hardware was programmed with new
features designed to prevent 'retail fraud'. When I inquired as to the
percentage of such fraud on higher education campuses, I was told there was
no calculated percentage for schools. In other words, there is little if any
retail fraud on our campuses.

Secondly, at this time, some of the features are optional and can be
bypassed by simply hitting <enter> or by entering a bogus number. Some of us
have been told to use a 5 digit street address, others were told to use part
of the zip code. The company will not, however, remove the prompts without
significant penalty, because they do not want to assume responsibility for
'retail fraud'.....fraud that rarely occurs on campus.

Finally, we received our new equipment without any training, without any
warning that there were significant changes that would have an immediate and
negative impact to our campus. We are not new merchants. Our contract is
roughly 10 years old and represents a sizable income for NDC.

After having discussed all of these issues with our representative, I
advised that we should not be charged for this new equipment until we
receive proper training. I also advised her of my concern for our very
strict state internal audit requirements. (Not a strong argument, to be
sure, but a convenient straw).

Anything you might add, will be greatly appreciated.
