Hello;
I was just been informed by a senior investigator at NJHESAA that
it is illegal to hold transcript for students who default on their
Stafford Loan. The reason being that the student actually owe the
money to the bank or NJHESSAA and not the Institution.
Our institution have always held transcript for students who default
on their Perkins or Stafford Loan. Please respond to the list if your
institution have a similar policy or have a comment to the above
statement.
