Thank you for your responses to my question regarding billing dates. They
have been very helpful as we discuss our billing date policies. I received
several requests to forward responses to the list, so here they are.

Thank you again,
Belinda

> 1. What is your due date for full payment for the Fall semester?
WE PREPARE BILLS EACH MONTH AS OF THE
15TH. PAYMENTS ARE DUE ON OR BEFORE THE 14TH OF
THE FOLLOWING MONTH. THIS CYCLE DOES NOT CHANGE
FOR TUITION BILLS.

> 2. What is your due date for full payment for the Spring semester? For
> schools whose semesters begin in January but require payment in
December, are
> there special issues to consider?
OUR SPRING SEMESTER STARTS IN MID JANUARY.
BILLS ARE PREPARED AS OF THE 15TH OF DECEMBER AND
DUE BY JANUARY 14TH. DUE DATES AND THE BEGINNING
OF THE SEMESTER HAVE NO CORRELATION.

> 3. What are your billing procedures/due date related to financial aid
> recipients in relation to when their bills are due?
TUITION BILLS ARE SENT WITH ANTICIPATED AID
LISTED AS KIND OF A MEMO NOTATION ON THE BILL.
SPRING AID IS FED TO STUDENTS' ACCOUNTS TEN DAYS
BEFORE THE START OF CLASSES WHICH IS BEFORE THE
PAYMENT DUE DATE (JAN 14TH). SO IF THEY HAVE
SUFFICIENT AID TO PAY CHARGES, THEY WILL NOT OWE
ANYTHING. IF NOT, THEY NEED TO SEND BALANCE BEFORE
JAN 14 DUE DATE.

> 4. What is the penalty to students who do not pay their fees by the due
> date - late fee, drop for non-payment?
> WE ASSESS A 1.5% MONTHLY DEFAULT CHARGE
ON ANY BALANCE NOT PAID BY THE DUE DATE.

> 5. What is your enrollment? Private or public?
                KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY
                PUBLIC
                21,500

Fall Financial Aid due on or before October 31.
Spring Financial Aid due on or before February 28.
>

The first due date we call the "Clearing Date". If not cleared by that
date, we advertise a $50 late clearing fee. However, it is not assessed
until the 2nd day of class if not cleared until the second day of class.
The same holds true for Spring semester.
The second due date is for Financial Aid. If a balance exists after those
dates, we assess a $25 per month late fee. Students are not allowed to
receive transcripts or register for further classes.

Hi Belinda,

Because we're a community college and enrollment goes on throughout the
term, it's difficult to have a set due date. Instead, we handle it much
like a credit card. If the charge is before the cut off date, then it's on
that statement.

>1. What is your due date for full payment for the Fall semester?

August 18

>2. What is your due date for full payment for the Spring semester? For
>schools whose semesters begin in January but require payment in December, are

>there special issues to consider?

Bills will be mailed in December, due January 5.

>3. What are your billing procedures/due date related to financial aid
>recipients in relation to when their bills are due?

Financial aid is credited against the outstanding balance, all out of
pocket expenses must be paid in full by the due date unless a deferred
payment plan contract is completed. Then half of the out of pocket is due
on the due date and the account balance in full is due on the 5th week of
the semester.

>4. What is the penalty to students who do not pay their fees by the due
>date - late fee, drop for non-payment?

A late fee of $50 and their course schedule is dropped.

>5. What is your enrollment? Private or public?

Around 6000 students, public.

Hi Belinda,

1. New policy beginning this fall all fees due in full 10 days before
classes start.
Fall classes begin August 23, fees are due in full August 14. Unpaid
accounts as of August 15 will be cancelled and id/meal cards inactivated .
Prior semesters fees were due first day of class but we didn't usually
inactive meal cards or cancel classes until around two weeks after classes
begin.
2. Spring classes begin Jan 10 fees due Jan 3.
3. Financial Aid recipients were billed with everyone else (first bills
July 10). We do an estimated amount of aid (aid that has been offered to and
accepted by the student). This amount is noted on the bill. Students who
have estimated aid will be given an automatic waiver until their aid is
applied IF they pay the difference between the total amount they owe and
the estimated aid.
4. Cancellation of classes and or id/meal card inactivation
5. Public, 25,000

Grand Canyon University is a private 4 year University and the answers to
your questions are in upper case below.

1. What is your due date for full payment for the Fall semester?
EVERYTHING NOT COVERED BY FINANCIAL AID IS DUE JULY 15.

2. What is your due date for full payment of the Spring semester?
EVERYTHING NOT COVERED BY FINANCIAL AID IS DUE DECEMBER 15.

For schools whose semesters begin in January but require payment in
December, are there special issues to consider?
WE HAVE FOUND THAT WITH THE 1098T REPORTING IT IS A LITTLE MORE DIFFICULT
TO PROVIDE AN AMOUNT, BUT HAVE WORKED THROUGH THIS PROBLEM.
WE REQUEST PAYMENT DUE ON THESE DATES, BUT WE ARE NOT PERMITTED TO
WITHDRAW FOR NON-PAYMENT, SO WE ARE CONSTANTLY WORKING THROUGH OUT THE
SEMESTER TO COLLECT TUITION.

3. What are your billing procedures/due dates related to financial aid
recipients in relation to when their bills are due?
AS STATED ABOVE; IF FINANCIAL DOES NOT COVER THE FULL BALANCE DUE WE
REQUEST THE STUDENT PAY THE PORTION NOT COVERED BY THE DUE DATE OR BE
SIGNED UP WITH AMS (OUR OUTSIDE BILLING AGENCY). WE WAIT FOR FINANCIAL
IF IT IS GUARANTEED.

4. What is the penalty to students who do not pay their fees by the due
date-latefee drop for non-payment?
THE ONLY PENALTY WE ARE PERMITTED TO ADMINISTER IS TO PUT A HOLD ON THE
NEXT SEMESTERS REGISTRATION, SO THEY CANNOT REGISTER UNTIL THE BALANCE IS
PAID IN FULL.

5. What is your enrollment? Private or Public?
OUR ENROLLMENT IS ABOUT 3,000 AND WE ARE A PRIVATE CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY.
