Jack,

We participate in experimental sites which allows us to use current year
money to pay prior year charges.

Subject: Prior-year charges & Title IV aid

Can anyone share with how you are dealing with the issue of payment of
prior year charges from current year Title IV aid?

For discussion, assume a student booked a class schedule in April 2000 for
the fall 2000 semester. At that time the student did not owe the
University any money; however, in May and June the student incurred traffic
fines totaling $300. The charges went unpaid during the summer, and now it
is time to pay for the fall. The student's prior year charges are $300,
fall semester charges are $3000, and Title IV aid totals $4000. Since the
$300 prior-year charges are greater than the Secretary's $100 threshold,
how do you collect your $300?
