We have pushed our incoming aid/loans later to avoid students
"disappearing" with their refunds. This frustrates some students, but
is reducing our outstanding balances in the long run. We have explained
it to the frustrated ones as a step taken to let drop/add run its course
- if registration isn't final, neither is financial aid.

Subject: bursar-l: Aid Disbursement
Currently we do not disburse aid until after the add/drop period. Of
course, this delays incoming loans, drawing down funds & processing
refunds to our ever anxious students.
Would anyone who disburses aid "early" be willing to share any issues
(and subsequent resolutions) they encounter regarding refunds to student
who do not return, under-register or otherwise become ineligible for
their aid?
Thanks for any insight you can provide.
