At Duquesne University, we place holds on the student's accounts prior to
graduation. This has worked very well, especially since our students do not
receive their official diplomas until approx one month after graduation.
All students are permitted to attend the graduation ceremony and receive a
blank folder. The students that have no holds when diplomas are released
are sent their diploma.

Hello,
We are trying to get some feedback from other schools to support our request

to hold diplomas for students that do not complete exit counseling before
they leave at graduation. We currently place a hold on transcripts after
graduation but by that point most students going on to grad school have
already requested their transcripts. Can you let me know if you hold
diplomas at commencement and if you do anything else to get students to
complete exit counseling. We hold commencement tickets for undergrads but I

think Friday night before commencment the ticket office just releases
tickets to anyone who asks. We do exits for Direct Staffords - online,
Perkins - online and Institutional Loans - in person.
