A question for the listserv crew:
We have had several instances wherein we have a student inquiring about
withdrawing and they are past the point wherein they could withdraw and
get anything but F's but before the 60% mark (where their aid/charges
would not be pro-rated). Does anyone out there ever counsel the student
that they could simply withdraw from all of their classes EXCEPT one,
which means they would keep their current aid, keep their current
charges, take F's in those classes they dropped but get the grade they
earn in the one class they remain in? In doing this, the student won't
wind up owing the w/d fee as well as more money for what the R2T4 says
we must return? Does this seem like a logical thing for a student to
do/for a bursar to counsel a student to do? Any insight as to what
others do in this situation would be appreciated. Also, does every
specific campus office (FA, bursar, academic dean, registrar etc)
counsel the student, or just the Academic Dean's office?
I appreciate any insight.
Thanks,
Allison E. Ross
