Re: bursar-l: Red Flag Rules

At UF, the Red Flags Rule policy will be included in an overall
"IDENTITY THEFT PREVENTION PROGRAM" that is being developed and will be
presented to UF's Board of Trustees for approval.

This overall privacy policy will require each University entity with
access to personal identification and financial information to develop
and implement its own policy and procedures to comply with the Red Flag
Rule as well as all other privacy requirements (e.g.,Gramm-Leach-Bliley,
etc.).

The departmental policies and procedures will be submitted to UF's Chief
Privacy Officer for review and approval.

The Chief Privacy Officer will maintain responsibility for the
implementation and ongoing support of this regulation.

Thanks for sharing Marg.

A question to the listserv: If your school is covered under the Red
Flag rules, are you going to consider the document you are drafting an
actual "policy" requiring board or governing body approval for
implementation or adopt it as guideline, program, working document,
etc.?

I would appreciate your thoughts.
