In response to your questions below, PCC charges a late payment penalty of 10% of the total registration fees, capped at $75 per term for our tiution bills. This is assessed at 14 days past due and no additional charges are assessed until the account is referred for collection. We send 3-4 internal collection notices before the accounts are referred. At that time we do pass through the collection agency cost.

I'm working from home and don't recall the exact details, but I also believe the DOE allows us to charge a collection fee on our Perkins/Nursing loan program and that we do assess a small flat fee for each attempted contact with the borrower (call or letter).
