Geri,

We only allow students to register for the next semester, if their
current semester balance is paid. However, this means that they can sit
through an entire semester before paying their current semester balance
(They are "penalized" by a 1% per month service charge on the unpaid
balance and because they can't register for the next semester). We treat
enrollment in our payment plan (with TMS) as a payment in full, at the
beginning of the semester.

Will you be summarizing the responses you have received? Could you share
them? This is a "hot topic" on our campus right now.

Thanks,
Eileen

Answer from Miami University:

We require students to pay any outstanding balance before registering
for the next term. Our final payment plan installment is due before
registration opens for the next term, so we are able to require that all
payment plan installments for the current semester must be completed
before registering for the next semester.

I need your help again I know, what else is newJ What is your policy
on the following scenario a student owes for the current term and needs
to register for the next term do you

1 allow them to register and drop at a later date if they dont pay if
you drop is it a week before school starts, at drop add when?

2 allow them to register and dont care if they owe you money

3 allow them to register after making some type of payment arrangements
to pay the past due balance with the Bursars office with the potential
of dropping them at a later date if they dont follow those arrangements

4 other

Thank you so much!!!
