We use the Higher One refund process. It is a Debit Card issued to the students. The Higher One program has streamlined our refund process to the point of saving the college over 1200 man hours per year, plus the cost of checks and paper normally used in the check issuing process, in addition to getting the students their money at least a week or two sooner. Our students have accepted the program with great enthusiasm and are looking forward to the many enhancements that Higher One is developing. I would be happy to provide you with any additional information you want or answer any questions you may have, just give me a call at my office number. Are there any schools that are doing this and can you give me any information as to how this works. Does the school market to national banks (I would assume a nat'l bank as students come from across the states) for bidding? Would it be used soley for refunds or can students also work study included? I was told that the cost could be free to the school and the student since the bank would aquire a substantial number of new accounts with some of them having the potential to become permanent customers. Are there any state regulations? (For example, can the student be forced to open an account against their will). I know nothing about this but I am very much interested in pursuing this if it proves successful. Thanks for any info anyone can give me. Olivia L.
